Navigating Your Cannabis Experience
Hi RIZE fam – Michelle here!
Have you had an overwhelming Cannabis experience? Being overwhelmed on the couch, suddenly not being able to socialize at a friend’s house, or waking up in the middle of the night with some serious munchies – I promise you’re not alone.
Hopefully, these experiences are few and far between. We are all using Cannabis for different reasons; you may be trying to relieve symptoms of a medical ailment, or you’re just here because you enjoy catching a buzz with no hangover. Both are equally respect,d and you deserve an awesome experience every time.
Dosing Titration
START SLOW. THC can cause psychoactive effects that become more apparent the higher the dose. Starting out with a low dose ensures that you can “test the waters” for how you feel with different methods of consumption.
WAIT. The effects can take some time to feel, so take your time. If you’re smoking or vaping, make sure you start with a small hit and see how you feel. If the desired effects aren’t reached after 5-10 minutes, try a bit more. You can always smoke more, but you can’t smoke less! Edibles are a bit different – make sure you wait 2.5 hours before consuming more. They can take that long for you to start feeling the effects, depending on your personal biology. We recommend 2.5mg THC for a good starting dose for edibles, you can always increase by another dose 2.5 hours later.
STOP. Are you feeling good? Have your symptoms been relieved? If so, you’ve reached your Optimal Therapeutic Dose – this is where you want to be! Consuming more than this might actually make some conditions, like anxiety, worse. Plus, you’ll save some money, right?
Don’t forget to keep a journal. If you’re feeling great, write yourself a little note about what you used and how much.
Know your limits
If you ever become uncomfortable after smoking or consuming edibles, understand that these feelings are easily avoided next time by lowering your dose and pairing CBD with the THC. CBD can help counteract the not-so-fun psychoactive effects and add some extra benefits.
Over Consuming
There are zero reports of fatal Marijuana overdoses, so don’t panic! Overconsuming looks different for everyone. Some of the symptoms you can experience are anxiety, panic attacks, rapid heart rate, difficulty conversing, poor coordination, nausea, and paranoia. Whether this advice is for you or a friend, there are some steps you can take to feel better:
- Drink some water to stay hydrated.
- Get some rest to pass the time.
- Call someone you love and trust and have a chat with them.
- Go for a walk, play a game, draw, or do something interesting and creative.
The main key is to stay calm and distracted until the negative feelings pass.
Tips & Tricks
BRING YOUR OWN CANNABIS.
If you are going somewhere where you know you’re going to be consuming with others, bring your own stash. You’re in control of the dosage and the more familiar you are with the product the better result you will have. Let your friends know, “this is what I smoke and this is how much I smoke.” You know your body best!
MAKE SURE YOU’RE USING CANNABIS IN A SAFE AND COMFORTABLE PLACE.
The wrong setting can make a big difference in the way you feel or experience Cannabis.
MAKE SURE YOU DON’T DRIVE AFTER USING CANNABIS.
We hear this one all the time, don’t we? But here’s the bottom line; in order to support changes of Cannabis laws and federal legalization we all have to take our part in putting up a good example. We are going to prove that this is medicine and that we can use it responsibly. Us working towards this goal, together, will make all the difference.
Happy Blazin’.
